Intermediate students are invited to give input on the children's department book orders, help develop mad science experiments,
and participate in other leadership roles in the children's department. Ages 8-13, parents are required to be in the building, a craft will be provided for younger siblings.

STEAM Punks! is our new program geared toward the Tween age group (ages 7-13). We will be concentrating on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math with hands-on activities including science experiments and creating/building objects and art.

This is an informal women's only fitness class.  We have a guest instructor come and teach the class. Paola Gemme is our guest instructor right now and we are doing Tabata.  Please bring some hand weights (light weights under 5lbs and heavy weights over 5 lbs) a yoga mat or towel.  Exercise is modified to your ablility.

Pope County Library will be offering free American Sign Language classes for all ages and abilities! Children must be accompanied by an adult to attend. Classes will be taught by Bonny Hill. Bonny received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education and deaf education (K-12) from the University of Arkansas Little Rock, and has taught American Sign Language classes throughout the state for years. Our theme this month will be Russia. Special Guest Milana Baisultanuva will be available to answer questions.


Story time followed by crafts.

Crafts supplies will be available for children and parents to come and make and take crafts.  This is a self run program there will not be a staff member to help with the crafts.

Are you interested to know about the ancient history of your area? Come learn about the archeology of Pope County and some surrounding counties. There will be activities after the talk to teach kids (and adults!) about how archeologists do their work – not the digging part by studying artifacts part! Sort out the myths about what archeology is and isn’t at this fun, family friendly event!

The River Valley Writers, a group for writers 19 years and older, meets every Tuesday at 5:30 PM in Heritage Hall. Their purpose is to encourage and inspire as well as share and critique each other’s works. Writers of every genre and varying ability are welcome.

The River Valley Writers invite writers of all ages to attend these creative, informative, and free sessions.

Sensory Story Time is a unique story time for children with special needs. The event will be held privately next door to the library in Heritage Hall. This group is limited to15 children and their caretakers to help keep the children from being overwhelmed. Story time will include songs, rhymes, games, interactive stories and sensory play. Registration is required. Please contact Melanie Goad at (479) 968-4368 or kids@popelibrary.org to register and to discuss your child’s special needs.

Knitting Class is a free teen and adult class featuring a local artist. Every 2nd Friday at 3:45pm, students will be provided supplies and instruction to learn a new skill! This is a free class, but space is limited to provide the best learning experience, so registration is required. More information on registration, our instructor, and future programs to come!

COUNTY MUSIC BY KEN BURNS- Join us at 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 14th in Heritage Hall for a special screening of Country Music by Ken Burns. The show will air on PBS on September 15th, but you can watch a special preview before it airs! Following the screening join us for a panel discussion with musical guests. The Pope County Library presents a FREE after-school event for tweens and teens ages 9-14 every last Monday of the month. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Tween STEAM will feature unique challenges in robotics, coding, and engineering, as well as dabbling in the arts. Every Tween STEAM event will begin at 4:30pm and take place in Heritage Hall.
