Pope County Historical Association

History Essay Contest

Write an essay about a significant historical happening that took place within Pope County.  It may be about a person, place or event.  Contest is open to Pope County students in 7th through 12th grade.  The paper must be 500-1000 works, typed, and double spaced.  Cash prizes will be awarded.  First place - $100, Second place - $50 and third place - $25.  Come to the History and Genealogy Department for more information.

The Katie Murdoch Genealogy and History Room is located in the Russellville Headquarters Library

The Katie Murdoch Genealogy and History Room currently has an exhibit: Finding Community.  This is a companion display to Arkansas Tech Museum's exhibit, Sense of Place: Reconstructing Community Through Oral History and Archeology.  The exhibit is accessible during normal library hours.
