"Just doing a 70 mile cycle ride. I cross the Mendips into Wells. Had just a peep in the Cathedral, time did not permit of more, & had also a look at the church of Wedmore, no doubt occupying the site of the one where Alfred the Great worshipped when he had a palace in Wedmore. Here he made peace with the Danes. Many thanks for card. With kind regards. A.G.C."
