Written in black ink: "Dear Anna. Just a New Years wish that 1911 may be a very happy one & busy one. Dent. 33.23 is a lovely promise. This is one means of transport on China but people don't ride on wheelbarrows on the north as in the south. People use horses or litters. Will try & write. Very much love. Dora."
