May Russell Postcard Collection

The May Russell Postcard Collection contains 285 postcards given or mailed to Miss May Russell, granddaughter of Dr. Thomas Russell. The city of Russellville was named after Dr. Thomas Russell because he purchased the first home built in the future city. May Russell was active in the Russellville community, writing several historical articles about the city and her family. She also worked in the Ganner Photography Studio as a photographer. She passed away June 25, 1969 at the age of 93. From a note card found at the end of the Russellville Photograph Collection: '"These post cards (marked Anna May Russell) were given to J. B. Lemley as President of the Pope. Co. Hist. Assoc. by Mr. Claud Ganner, nephew of Miss Russell in 1972. Miss Russell passed away June 25, 1969, age 93."
