"(2) Got away this afternoon — maybe!! I wanted to get into Belfort, or if lucky, to get into Basle, Switzerland. But no such luck. Besancon is a pretty town and quite interesting, historically and militarily. I've found most all the points of historic note and taken quite a few pictures. I think I've a good camera, at least it promises well. I mean the new one."
