"Maceo Park. General Antonia Maceo was one of the leading generals of the war of Independence. The monument shows him in his favorite actitude of attacking with the Cuban "machete" (sword). It is a master piece of bronze and white marble. The big esplanade has recently been embellished by Sec. Cespedes with beautiful marble arcade, gardens, skating rink, ponds, a colored water fountain, etc."
