"The most prominent of all fraternal organizations on the Islands of Hawaii is that of the Masonic order. Since 1850, when the first Lodge was established by early mariners, much of the benevolent and philanthropic work of the Island was done by their members. The temple occupies one of the most public corners in the center of Honolulu."
