Alsa Chester Howard Postcard Collection : Postcards collected around the world from Howard's extensive travels.

This postcard collection was donated to the Katie Murdoch Genealogy and History Room at the Pope County Library System Russellville Branch in 2008 by Kathleen Strickland Bell. The collection was cataloged by the Assistant Genealogy and History Librarian, Kristen Uslperger. Alsa Chester Howard was born in Pope County, Arkansas on March 7, 1884 to William C. and Dulsenia (Crow) Howard. After his father's death two years later, his mother moved the family to Moreland, where he lived until he went off to college at the University of Arkansas in 1903. By 1905, Alsa has enlisted in the U. S. Army at Fort Roots in Little Rock, Arkansas. From there, he began a long career in the military which allowed him to travel all over the world. He also became very active with the Masons. Through his many works with the Masons and his military career, he was On March 7, 1916, he married Emily S. Hinton, who was also a world traveler. Alsa retired in 1934 and moved to New York with his wife. She passed away in 1954 and he followed on February 28, 1955. They are both buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
