"Hollins College, situated seven miles from the city of Roanoke. Oldest college for women in Virginia founded by Charles Lewis Cooke. Began with Valley Union Seminary of 1842. An accredited liberal arts college with an endowment and board of trustees. A Southern college with a nation—wide patronage."

"Enjoyed the trip here very much — Really is a fun city — bigger place than I had imagined. Had a nice time at the reception last night. A Mrs. Wallace, past grand matron took me under her arm. I saw with her. Nice crowed — stayed in a good tourist house will ? phone around this AM then go to Greensboro. Lots of love, Chester"
