Transcription:
"My friend who is accompanying me has to e back on Saturday night — so our tour has to be considerably curtailed. We trained to Oxford this morning. Visited eight colleges, three churches & the Bodleian Library. In the latter we saw the autograph of Shelley's Prometheus Unbound, a lock of his hair, his guitar, a lock of Louis Stevenson's, a couple of hairs from the head of John Hampden, a book supposed to be in King Alfred's autograph, & numbers of portraits, many of Tudor & Stuart times. Dorchester on Thames was the seat of a bishopric in Saxon days. The fine old Abbey is mainly of 13th & 14th Centuries. With kind regards, A.G.C."
