" This view shows the house that was occupied by Gen. George Washington while surveying the city of Washington in 1791. It is located on the north side of M St. between 30th and 31st St., N.W. This section of the city is known as Georgetown and is older than Washington, D.C., itself."

"2—11—12. Am having just the dandiest kind of a time. Hope you all the same, will write soon. Got a letter from Uncle Lee last week, also one from Emma Warren. Nothing very new to tell. Best wishes and love, C."
