POPE COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM KICKS OFF 2024 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Russellville, Arkansas: The Pope County Library System is offering their free annual Summer Reading Program (SRP) to patrons of all ages. Registration is open at the Pope County Library in Russellville, Atkins Centennial Library, Dover Public Library,Hector Public Library, and the Pope County Library Bookmobile. Each library will offer their own programs related to this year’s theme, Adventure Begins at Your Library; La AventuraComienza en tu Biblioteca.
The Pope County Library in Russellville will hold their All-Ages SRP Kickoff on Saturday, June 1, from10:00 am—1:00 pm. Angela Chandler fromthe Arkansas State Geological Survey will present two programs about Fossils of Arkansas--one for children at 10:00 am, and one for adults at 1:00 pm; both programs will be held in Heritage Hall. Inside the library, patrons will find Children’s Stations focused on Fishing, Wheels, Rapunzel, Shadows, and Puzzles. Teens and Adults will beinvited to play Board Games. Patrons are encouraged to bring gently used or new puzzles and games to exchange at a station in the center of the library (puzzles and games remaining at the close of the day will be treated as donations).
Russellville staff have planned programs for children, teens, and adults with a different focus each week: Adventures in Travel; Adventures in the Familiar; Adventures in Imagination; Adventures in the Dark; Adventures in Nature; Adventures in the Unknown; and Adventures in the Library.
The Atkins Centennial Library will host a series of Kickoff events this year, each targeted at aparticular age group. Their Children’s SRPKickoff will feature a scavenger hunt in their outdoor play area on Monday,June 3, during their 1:00 pm Family Storytime program. The Teen Kickoff will beheld on Tuesday, June 4, at 11:00 am and will feature Craft and Legoactivities. Atkins will finish the weekon Saturday, June 8, with their Adult Kickoff at 2:00 pm during their SRPFellowship of the Ring Book Club.
