Atkins, Arkansas: The Pope County Library System began collaborating with AARP Arkansas in 2021 to help offer free tax assistance to Pope County residents. Starting Tuesday, February 11, AARP certified volunteers will be available at Atkins Centennial Library, 216 NE First Street, Atkins, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 am—12:30 pm and 1:30-5:00 pm to assist with tax preparation. Help will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Important documents to bring include social security card/tax ID number for all individuals on the tax return; spouse (if joint return); dates of birth and social security cards for all dependents; bank account and routing number for direct deposit if a refund is in order; and all W-2s plus other forms of income, including investments, interest, dividends, unemployment, Social Security, and lottery/gambling winnings. If applicable, also bring documentation of mortgage interest; student loan interest; education costs; qualified medical expenses; IRA contributions; charitable donations; dependent/child expenses such as childcare and/or adoption costs; and contributions to medical savings accounts.
