Pope County, Arkansas: The public is invited to Spring Break activities presented by the Pope County Library System beginning Friday, March 21, at 4:00 pm with a special PAWS for Reading Family Night at the Pope County Library in Russellville. Activities include a Dog and Cat themed Scavenger Hunt, as well as pet-themed charades and a musical game of Doggy, Doggy, Where is Your Bone. This All-Ages Event is especially suited for families.
Spring Break storytimes will center around “Feline Fine” with Community Cat Support Network in Russellville, the Poky Little Puppy character at all branches in collaboration with Dog Ear Books, and a Pete the Cat Storytime at the Dover Library. Offsite events include an R and R Kennels Storytime in Pottsville with Ms. Emilee on March 25 and a Bookmobile Goes to the Dogs visit to the Russellville Animal Shelter on March 28.
NovaStar Rescue will visit the Dover Library on Wednesday, March 26, and will hold an adoption event at the Pope County Library in Russellville on Saturday, March 29. NovaStar Rescue is a small, predominantly foster-based rescue in Dover, Arkansas. They are not breed specific, but their focus has always been to save, educate, and advocate for “pitties”. Whether dogs are rescued from the streets or saved from a shelter, NovaStar seeks to find each dog a good home where they can be a loved and cherished member of the family. A display featuring some of NovaStar’s adoptable dogs is presented in the foyer leading into the Russellville Library from the parking lot at 116 E. 3rd Street.
Paws for Justice, a statewide program of the Arkansas Office of the Prosecutor Coordinator, provides certified facility dogs to assist victims of crime during prosecutor, police, or forensic interviews, as well as court proceedings. Paws for Justice will hold a Meet and Greet with some of the dogs and handlers on March 27 in the Russellville library lobby from 11:00 am—12:00 pm and 1:30 pm—2:30 pm and on Friday, March 28, at the Dover Library from 2:00—3:00 pm. Additional pet-themed activities for teens, adults, and families are also planned throughout the week.
The Bloodmobile from Our Blood Institute will set up at the Pope County Library on Thursday, March 27, from 11:00 am—3:30 pm. Walk-ins are accepted, or an appointment can be made at obi.org.
Atkins Library will offer their E-Sports League for teens and tweens as a daily drop-in program from Monday through Friday and is offering Spring Break Get Away--Green Screen
Pictures all day on Wednesday, March 26. And the Hector Library invites families to their new Bingo program on Thursday, March 27, at 2:00 pm.
