2025 POPE COUNTY LIBRARY HOSTS DINORAMA /SUMMER READING FINALE AT THE HUGHES CENTER

Russellville, Arkansas: The Pope County Library in Russellville is wrapping up their Summer Reading Program (SRP) with a Dinorama and SRP Finale on Saturday, July 26, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Hughes Center at 1000 E. Parkway. YA Librarian Morgan Frazier says last year’s Arkansas Fossils program in the library’s Heritage Hall was so popular that the team decided to move the event to the Hughes Center this year and combine it with the Summer Reading Finale. Angela Chandler, Arkansas Geological Survey Assistant Director and Assistant State Geologist, will kick off the event at 10:00 am with a talk about Arkansas fossils. After the talk, Chandler will be available to identify fossils. Additionally, Dr. Emily Beahm, Arkansas Archeological Survey Station Archeologist at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, will be on hand to identify artifacts.

The event will also feature fun for all ages with activities such as making a pipe cleaner dino sculpture, a dino flip book, and/or a dino headband; Battle of the Bones: A Fossil Mystery for Adults and Teens; Face Painting; a table for coloring; and a Bean Bag Toss. A limited number of Frosty coupons from Wendy’s will be available, and Huntington Learning Center will have an information and prize table.

The event is free to the public. Individuals are encouraged to bring in their fossils and artifacts for identification.
